Michael Edward Riggs

Michael Edward Riggs of Orlando, Florida, passed away on March 29, 2023. Mike was born March 17, 1963 in Clinton Heights, NY to Margaret and Michael Riggs. Mike is survived by his wife Raquel Riggs, mother Margaret Ketzer and Joe Zelenke, sister Colleen and Bob Zapfel. He is also survived by a large extended family including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Mike was a kind, caring, hard working and fun loving spirit that was loved by all who knew him. He was a role model to all his nieces and nephews. Sharing his love of life and desires for their successes made him so easy to love. Mike’s greatest joys came from spending time with his family, relaxing and vacationing with his wife and son. His smile and hugs comforted his family anytime they were needed. He would often say “Life is Good!”, he truly lived by those words. He cherished each day he spent with his Raquel, Mikey and those he loved. Mike would say his greatest accomplishment was his family. Being the most amazing husband and father to Raquel and Mikey. The year leading to his passing was one of the most challenging years. The loss of his son Mikey in a devastating accident left Mike with many severe injuries. Injuries he would overcome with the strength and perseverance he was known for. He had regained his strength and returned to work keeping his promise, made to Mikey, that he would take care of his mom and those he loved. We know his time with us is over for the time being. His family and friends will continue to mourn his loss but we are comforted by our faith and our loving memories of Mike. Our spirits are further comforted knowing he is with his Mikey. With broken hearts, until we are reunited, we will miss you both everyday. Mike was so strongly committed to his family and especially his son Mikey. In honor of them both our family is asking for donations to be made to St. Jude. They would both want St. Jude to continue their quest in ending childhood cancers.
