Marilyn D'Arville

Marilyn was born in New York City, N.Y. on February 18, 1935. She was born to Anthony and Dorothy Cipriano. Her formative school years were spent in New York City. She relocated with her family to the Bronx where at a young age, Marilyn took her first job at a hospital nearby. She went on to become a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Company. Marilyn was crowned "Miss Reingold" in a beauty pageant and went on to become a model. She met her husband Edmond James D'Arville shortly after he had enlisted in the Navy. They were married on October 31, 1953 at St. Raymond's Catholic Church in the Bronx. Ed graduated from Fort Schuyler and went on to become a Navy pilot. Throughout this time Marilyn worked tirelessly to raise five lively children: Lynn Anne (Lyndsey), Edmond Anthony (Ed), Jeanne Marie (Jeannie), John Dean (J.D.), and Michael James (Mike); all the while supporting his 22 year military career. Marilyn was constantly packing the family up to move every couple of years. They lived in South Carolina, Texas, Newfoundland, Canada, Virginia, Rhode Island, and Florida. She raised 5 children on her own as Ed was deployed on many battleships as a naval pilot where he served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Marilyn spent endless hours caring for her young children. She was a fabulous cook, talented seamstress, and a master gardener. Marilyn was the president of the Officer's Wives Club and she managed the Naval thrift store. She was a role model for the other military wives. She hosted many beautiful dinner parties. All of the above helped to support and advance her husband's career. Other family activities included boating and many sea mishaps! In her little free time Marilyn enjoyed painting, working with stained glass, and floral arranging. There was never a plant she could not grow! Many of her children often sought gardening advice. Orchids loved her! To this day she has a "window seat" filled with 25 blooming orchids. Marilyn and Ed retired from his service in the Navy and relocated to Altamonte Springs, Florida. While Ed stayed busy starting a business Marilyn was busy raising their family and taking care of their Dalmatians. Once the children had all left the nest they had time to enjoy the state of Florida. Later in life Marilyn spent 7 years caring for her parents and Mother in Law in her home. She lovingly tended to their needs until they passed away. In the next chapter of their lives Marilyn and Ed enjoyed traveling the world. Considering that she was an only child Marilyn was delighted to find out that she had relatives in Italy. She and Ed boarded a plane to Italy to meet her relatives shortly thereafter. Out of all of their great adventures around the world they considered this to be the trip of a lifetime! After Ed became ill he underwent chemotherapy for five years. Marilyn was heartbroken that she could no longer care for him at home. He moved into the beautiful Lake Nona VA Living Center. She moved to Lake Nona to be nearby. Marilyn learned on the fast track after Ed passed away how to manage financial accounts. She filled her life with her children, grandchildren, and twin great grandchildren. Her constant companion was her beloved dog, Romeo. She continued to hone her gardening skills and maintained an immaculate home. She taught all of her children the value of hard work, honor, and to love their country, and love each other. Marilyn accepted Christ as her Savior and loved telling other people about Jesus. Marilyn passed away at age 85 on November 18, 2020. Marilyn is survived by children: Lynn and Schuyler Lovestrand, Ed and Debbie D'Arville, Jeannie Rothamel, J.D. and Wanda D'Arville, Michael and Michelle D'Arville. Grandchildren: Lauria Lovestrand, Cheriessa and John Smith, Crystalise Lovestrand, Melissa and R.J. Manchester, Matthew Rothamel, Jenna Rothamel, Bethany Rothamel, and Colin Rothamel, Michael D'Arville, Rebecca D'Arville, and Blake D'Arville. Great grandchildren: Dahlia Trout and Zinnia Trout. Marilyn is predeceased by her husband Edmond D'Arville. Parents: Anthony Cipriano and Dorothy Cipriano. Father and Mother in Law: Edmond D'Arville and Estelle D'Arville. Son in Law: Bill Rothamel. Marilyn will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. May you rest in your Heavenly Father's arms until we meet again.
