Jimmy George Tsafonias

It is with deep sadness that the family of Jimmy Tsafonias announces his peaceful passing in Orlando, Florida on January 25, 2025. Born in 1951 in Agrinou Zevgaraki, Greece, Jimmy immigrated to the United States at 17, eventually settling in the Boston area. Throughout his life, he proudly upheld his Greek heritage and traveled to Greece every summer to stay connected with family and friends. Jimmy was the beloved husband of 40 years to Theoni Tsafonias and the devoted father of three sons George Tsafonias, Stellios Xanthoudakis, Gianni Tsafonias and three grandchildren Madison, Helena and Adriana. He is also survived by his sisters Yolanda and Thanasia and brother Nick, who reside in Greece. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, George and Georgia Tsafonias. An entrepreneur at heart, Jimmy began his career in the food and service industry in the Northeast, running several successful businesses, including Endicott Cleaners in Dedham, Massachusetts; Johnny’s Pizza and Seafood in Providence, Rhode Island; and Jimmy’s Bar & Grill in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. In 2005, he and Theoni relocated to Orlando, Florida, where they opened The Greek Corner, which quickly became the city’s premier Greek restaurant and still is to this day. Jimmy took pride in treating his patrons and staff like extended family, welcoming them to share in holiday celebrations at home and ensuring everyone had a place to celebrate. Jimmy’s love for his culture, family, and community was evident in everything he did. His warmth, generosity, and passion for hospitality left an indelible mark on those who knew him. In every venture, whether perfecting a traditional Greek dish or hosting large gatherings at home, Jimmy’s greatest joy came from bringing people together. A Greek Orthodox Service will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church - 1217 Trinity Woods Lane, Maitland, Florida 32751- 407-331-4687. The public viewing will be from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM. It will be followed by a Church Service at 10:00AM. A Graveside burial will be at 11:30AM at Queen of Angels Catholic Cemetery - 1901 Queen of Angels Drive, Winter Park, FL 32792
