Mr. Jeremy Casey Cox, age 23 of Orlando, Florida passed away on Friday, October 25, 2013 in Orlando, Florida. Mr. Cox was born on January 23, 1990 in Orlando, Florida. Eulogy from Jeremy's Service, by his older sister Carrie: My little brother was entertaining and fun-loving. He was always a source of entertainment from the moment he was born. In the beginning, that may not have been his intention, but nevertheless, my sisters and I were always highly amused when we dressed him up as if he was our little doll. One time in particular, we dressed him in an old cheerleading costume, put his curly hair in pigtails, and graced his cheeks with a rosy glow courtesy of my mom’s mary kay makeup bag. It couldn’t have been easy being the youngest child with three older sisters in the house once my older brother Kenny had moved out. Growing up in a house full of girls probably contributed to his tendency to be chatty. He always had an answer to any question, and could speak with conviction on any topic. As the girls in the family grew up and moved out, Jeremy found his place with my dad and brother, spending nearly every evening in the barn with one or both of them. Being the youngest and separated from Kenny by fifteen years, Jeremy became an uncle when he was just five years old. He loved Zowe from the start, though they were more like brother and sister than uncle and niece. Zowe was followed by Dallan, Kyleigh, Kasey, Savannah, Jesse, Caden, Cian, Zadie, Slate, Callum, and Jocelyn, Jeremy’s pretty girl. He was proud of all of the kids, and took his role seriously. When he was sick the day of Dallan’s 2nd birthday party, my mom had to tell him he couldn’t go to the party. “But I love my nephew,” Jeremy said with tears in his 11 year old eyes. He gave the kids endless 4 wheeler rides. Succumbing to the pleas of “just one more time.” Growing up my mom was a great homemaker. She inspired us all a great deal with her constant mopping, bread baking, snuggling, sewing, and cooking. The one thing my mom didn’t do, was grill. That, my dad was in charge of. He could burn a steak better than anyone I’ve ever known. At some point, my mom started going to Jeremy, pleading with him to please cook her Salmon without charring it. “I paid $12 a pound for this, Jeremy. Please! Don’t let your dad cook it!” “I got this, mom” he said. And he never stopped grilling. Even still, my dad would request HIS steak extra crunchy. Grilling wasn’t the only help my dad got from Jeremy. He helped build our back porch when he was just a couple of years old. He learned from my dad and was soon rewiring old houses with electrical problems, laying tile, doing plumbing work, and putting up fences. He was always available to hang curtain rods, pictures, speakers, gun racks, or anything my sisters needed. When my dad didn’t have the time to help my mom put up her Christmas lights, Jeremy came to the rescue with his friend Moises. My mother alternated shouting directions and warnings to the boys as they goofed off on the roof. “I got this, mom” he would say. Jeremy was thoughtful and kind. He was always the first one to the car to help unload groceries or the baggage of guests. Without realizing it, he made everyone around him feel important. He was giving, and always endeavored to accommodate the needs of his friends and family, whether that was a place to live for his friend Leo, a meal for whoever was around the house, or a pack of batteries for a niece or nephews toy. Even though we thought we knew Jeremy pretty well, he is still surprising us. While trading stories at my parent’s house, Jeremy’s girlfriend Jillian shared with us that he loved to do the cha cha slide at work on the pool deck during shift change or even in his lifeguard chair just for fun. We laughed, and wondered how we had missed that about him. She also told us that shortly after they met, he told her my dad was his best friend. Recalling our memories to family and friends has been and will continue to be a comfort. We will all miss Jeremy. My mom will miss her sweet baby boy, my dad will miss his little buddy. There are few things in life I feel certain about, but I know that Jeremy is in heaven today. He’s looking down and watching us all.
