James Kevin Kain Obituary It is with great sadness that the Kain family announce the passing of James Kevin Kain. Kevin passed into eternal life on August 30, 2017 at age 58 after a courageous battle with leukemia. Kevin will forever be remembered by his wife Darla of 30 years, son Brandon and wife Brittany and grandson, Riley, by his parents Jim and Ann Kain, his sisters and brother Carla and Brian (Reibel), Lori and Mike (White), Cindi and Dale (Durrance), Amy and Kevin (Nicarry) and Carey and Tracy Kain, in-laws David and Betty Briganti, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Terry and Dave Freeman. Kevin will also be fondly remembered by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and amazing friends. A native of Florida, Kevin graduated from Lyman High School in Longwood, Florida. His professional working career included various auto service positions and, most recently, working at L-3 Communications/Crestview Aerospace as a sheet metal aircraft mechanic. Kevin had a sense of humor that was overwhelmingly appreciated by all. He could break into any movie character and had you laughing until your sides hurt. His hobbies included building and riding dune buggies, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, dirt biking, fishing, watching the Discovery and History channels and spending time with his family and friends. We thank the wonderful doctors, nurses, techs and staff at Florida Hospital Altamonte, countless friends, and extended family members for their prayers, love, and for walking with us through this time. ************************************************************************************* Family Memory Tributes Spontaneity, stubbornness, and a sense of humor. These are the qualities that I will remember most about my husband. From the time he proposed marriage after chasing the Miami cruise ship I was working on to the Bahamas and back, (if you've never heard Kevin recount this adventure, you've missed a great story!), throughout our thirty-year marriage, and ultimately during his hard-fought battle with Leukemia, Kevin remained the same. - entertaining hospital staff and visitors alike with his witty sayings as he stubbornly fought his battle to the end. As any married couple, we faced many challenges during our time together. I am so thankful that we faced our obstacles together and kept our sense of humor along the way. I'll miss you Kev. Until we meet again. "You'll never know just how much I love you". Your "baby doll" - Darla Growing up with Pop was always an adventure. From trips to lakes and rivers, riding the Aqua Scooter and JetSkis to tinkering and riding dirt bikes and dune buggies in the woods (only one broken arm) - there was never a dull moment! I'll miss hearing you recite your favorite movie quotes: "Your gonna eat your cornbread?", "There's these two Fellers.... mmm hmmmm", and my alltime favorite - "Ma! Meatloaf!" to name a few. But, I promise to carry on all of these traditions as best as I can. Love you, Pop. Thanks for everything that you taught me. Your son, Brandon. When Kevin passed, we knew God was waiting to receive him with open arms. Kevin was such an addition to our family. We were blessed to have had him, if even for such a short time. He surely will be missed. Two days after his passing, a word went out that a Celebration of Kevin’s Life would be held here at our home. It was amazing that on such a short notice, the number of family and friends that came to share this time with all of us. They came with food, drink, hugs, tears and remembrances of the fun times and games he provided. There will never be another Kevin! Mom & Dad – Ann & Jim. The Kain Kids were fortunate to grow up in a large family with a lot of craziness. Kevin, being the eldest boy, felt the need to be the ringleader of many ill-advised activities that found him in hot water with our parents. A never-a-dull-moment home environment, Kevin was the comedian in the house. He would break into any movie or TV character and had us all laughing until we cried…and it came so natural to him………he did not have to work at being funny, he was just funny. Kevin was gifted with many talents, one of these talents being his ability to fix/build/assemble pretty much anything. He worked alongside our Dad building additions to our home, building a “Kid Only” treehouse called the Carlorkecicaam, managing our family animal menagerie and building bicycles/dune buggies/rails/motorcycles. Always the host, Kevin had a natural ability to make you feel welcomed. He did not need the limelight, but, instead, was the one lifting you up and shining your light. He was such a warm, gracious and giving soul and will be exponentially missed. I love you, Kevin, to the moon and back………….. Lori I was lucky to have had Kevin as my brother. He was a goof! His imitations of characters had us all in stitches. That seemed to be the theme of the many who came to share their memories at his celebration of life. I am so thankful that he was able to reconnect with family during his illness, and to know he was surrounded by love. As Kain Kids, we had many childhood adventures including riding ponies, horses, mini bikes, motorcycles, dune buggies/rails, and finally, graduating to cars. Anything with a motor grabbed Kevin's attention, and he learned how to work on it. This helped shape his career where over the years, he made lifelong friends. He will be greatly missed by those of us who called him Dad, husband, son, brother, cousin, and friend. Love you lots Kevin! Cindi
