Gloria Deloris Woods September 19, 1932 – August 22, 2013 Gloria Deloris Woods 80, of Orlando, Florida passed away at 9:25 PM August 22, 2013 at Florida Hospital South with Arthur and Michelle, her son and daughter at her side. She was born September 19, 1932 in Augusta, Georgia to Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Bunn. On Valentine’s Day 1954, she married Arthur Holt Woods. Arthur passed away on December 31, 1965. Gloria never remarried, as Arthur was her only love. She is survived by her sister Betty Detweiler of Grovetown, Georgia; son Arthur Holt Woods II of Orlando, Florida; two daughters Michelle Ryan of Orlando and Susie Howard of St. Cloud, Florida. Four Grandsons Jason Daniel Woods & his husband William Paul Yarmal III of New York City, New York; Phillip John Ryan III & his wife Shannon Ryan of Orlando, Florida; Matthew Donovan Howard and William Tally Howard II both of St. Cloud, Florida. One Granddaughter Celeste Hope Ryan of Orlando, Florida; one great grandson Kaleb Lucas Ryan and one great granddaughter Layla Daniella Ryan both of Orlando, Florida. She is also survived and surrounded in love by her many nieces and nephews and cousins. After her marriage, Gloria and Arthur moved to Central Florida where Gloria worked and raised her family. Gloria was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Kissimmee, Florida where she found a love for teaching children and continued to further her education by receiving a degree in early childhood education at Valencia Community College and was instrumental in developing a 4C’s and Head Start facility in Osceola County spanning a 40 year history of caring for children before retiring in June of 1998. Gloria had the most generous and caring heart that a person could have and always put others before herself.She loved to sit on her front porch in her favorite rocker sipping an iced tea while reading. She also enjoyed swimming, watching classic movies, and loved spending time with her friends and family. Reverend Thomas G Barrett will officiate at the memorial service Thursday August 29th 7:30 PM at Morning Star School 954 Leigh Ave Orlando, FL 32804.Graveside services will be held the following day at Forrest Hills Cemetery 2000 Grace Avenue, Haines City, FL 33844 at11:30 AM with Deacon Paul Volkerson officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Central & North Florida Chapter 378 Center Pointe Circle, Ste 1280 Altamonte Springs, FL 32701.
