Frank Miller

Frank E. Miller, Sr. passed into the arms of the Lord peacefully on July 16, 2011 at 4:01pm in Altamonte Springs, Florida near Orlando, Fl. By sheer determination he lives 2 years beyond his expected diagnosis. He walked to extend his life from diabetes, benefiting from loss of weight and then 5 years of kidney dialysis. He was a great and courageous man Frank was an Eagle Scout and graduate of Penn State. He enjoyed time with his family, trips to the beach, theme parks, soccer games, BBQs, birthday parties and walks. . Frank had many interests in life and enjoyed a varied career. Out of Penn State he started his professional career at Westinghouse Atomic Power in Pittsburgh, to Prismo Manufacturing of Huntingdon, PA where he obtained patents for road painting machinery. With Reeves Hoffman in Carlisle, PA he helped design crystals for the new space program. Frank was most proud of the people he worked with and mentored that spring boarded to new positions and other careers. After 30 years with Owens Corning, he held 28 different positions from a young engineer, to plant engineer, to various management and directors positions. He held many patents with the company as well. He enjoyed a post retirement career as the COO of Varo Engineering, Ltd of Columbus, OH, engineering the growth of the company to a multi-discipline/multi-million dollar design firm. He then worked for pleasure as a Security Officer for the Kroger Company in Ohio. Frank is survived by his wife of 41 years, Louise; 3 children and 5 grandchildren: son Frank Jr, wife Lynne and grandchildren Leiah and Grant of Avon, CT; daughter Susan, husband Kevin and granddaughter Emilia of Canal Winchester, OH; son David, wife Jejett and grandchildren Brecca and Keean of Winter Springs, Fl; two loving sister: Rena and husband Phil of Tipton, PA; Lynn and husband Kenneth of Waynesboro, GA; a great Aunt Agnes of Pittsburgh, PA and many nephews, nephews and good friends throughout the country. Frank will be cremated and a memorial service is being planned for the immediate family.
