Eva B. Smith

Eva Smith, 95, passed away peacefully in her home in Altamonte Springs on February 9th under the compassionate care of Hospice of the Comforter's very qualified nurses, her daughter, Sandra, and wonderful and supportive friends. Eva was born in Tunstal, England, came to the U.S. at the age of 2, and lived most of her young life in Ohio. She had four brothers and one sister, all of whom have preceded her in death. She received her RN and Masters in Nursing at Ohio State University and taught for a short while at Ohio State University, where she met Warren Smith, the love of her life. They were married and together for 68 years before he died in 2004 at age 93. She spent her life as wife, dedicated mother, and volunteering her time and talents in the Worthington Presbyterian Church, where she was a ruling elder, teacher and leader. She was asked to be an honorary member of the Board of Ecumenical Mission and Relations for the United Presbyterian Church Ecumenical Council and traveled to Japan, Europe, and the Philippines. She loved her work for the church and was an inspiring leader for women. She also loved animals, sewing, all needle crafts, rug hooking, weaving, knitting, gardening, playing Bridge, discussing politics, and most of all, reading. She was loved by everyone, and showed compassion and caring for everyone she knew. She was a loving and supportive mother, a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for Sandy's clubs. Later years from 1980 until 2002, were spent part time in their house in Scaly Mountain, North Carolina, with Warren and their precious dog, Misty, where she, again, was involved in the community and Scaly Mtn. Women's club. She had many dear friends there also. The Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 18 at the Wekiva Presbyterian Church, 211 Wekiva Springs Lane, Longwood, FL 32779, 407-869-1608.
