Edward Dodich

We remember Edward Frank Dodich today as an adoring family man and a loving brother in all the congregations in which he served. Well thought of for his meek personality, personal interest in others and charming sense of humor, he is surely missed by all who knew him. Ed was born on October 31, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY. Ed was born to Frank and Marcella Dodich along with his 8 brothers; Frank, Manny, Willy, Rudy, Alfred, Johnny, Tony, and Jimmy. Ed learned the truth from his brother Rudy and wife Mary when they witnessed to him when he was on leave from the Air Force. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1955. He met his wife Doris, at the Kingdom Hall in Brooklyn, NY on the corner of 5th Ave and 8th Street. They married on August 4, 1956 and spent the next 54 years together raising their family and serving Jehovah. Over the years Ed and Doris had the privilege of serving in congregations in New York, Mississippi, and Florida, where for much of that time Ed was an elder. Ed was always happy to volunteer his time and construction skills to assist in the building of Kingdom Halls and Assembly Halls. He took part in the construction of Kingdom Halls in Hazelhurst, Mississippi and Altamonte Springs, Florida as well as the Daytona Beach and Plant City Assembly Halls in Florida. Ed was also a part of the relief work organized in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew. Ed was a carpenter and painter for most of his career. Many have memories of working with him at different times over the years. Ed loved to listen to music and sing a long to the words and watch old movies. Ed also was an artist in his younger days and actually had received a scholarship to an art school in New York. The greatest joy of Ed's life was his children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife Doris, Ed is survived by his children, Harry, Paul, Julie and Dori and his grandchildren Austin, Dalton, Hannah, Taylor, Dylan, Parker and Preston. Ed is also survived by his two brothers Tony and Jimmy , as well as many nieces and nephews. Ed passed away peacefully in his home on October 9, 2010 with his family by his side. A faithful servant of Jehovah to the end, his friends and family look forward to welcoming him back in the resurrection.
