Dorothy LaJune Nation

Dorothy LaJune Nation, age 84 of Longwood, FL, formerly of Taylorville, IL, passed away November 16, 2010 at Hospice of the Comforter, Altamonte Springs, FL. She was born in Decatur, IL on February 20, 1926, the daughter of the late Herbert T. Edwards and Margaret D. Edwards. On April 25, 1943 Dorothy married Stanley "Iven" Nation of Blue Mound, IL. Iven was an aviation machinist on the aircraft carrier USS Ommaney Bay. He received a Purple Heart Award from injuries received when the USS Ommaney Bay was destroyed in the Pacific War battle. Iven and Dorothy owned and operated restaurants and gas stations in the Central Illinois area until 1964 when they relocated to Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Their home was always open to family and friends with a home cooked meal and desserts. Dorothy was proud of her first place award for cherry nut cake and was always cooking or baking for someone in need. She is preceded in death by her husband Iven, in 1991; her sisters, Norma J. Ernst, Betty R. Nolan, Carol S. Nelson; and her parents. She is survived by three children Stanley T. "Ted" Nation of Valrico, FL, Sandra "Sandy" D. McLaughlin of DeBary, FL, and Ronnie "Ron" L. Nation of Longwood, FL. Ted is married to JoAnne and they have three children; Ted, Shawna and Brieanna; and five grandchildren. Sandy is married to Michael J. McLaughlin and they have two children; Brian and Jennifer; and two grandchildren. Ron is married to Jeanette and they have three children; Phillip, Stephen, and Jonathan; and three grandchildren. She is survived by her sisters Ann (husband Bob) Bandy and Marjorie Day, both of Taylorville, IL; Sharon Durbin of Kokomo, IN; and brother, Jim Edwards of Huffman, TX. Memorial service will be held at Sutton Memorial Home with burial to follow at GlenHaven Memorial Gardens. The viewing will be held Saturday, November 20, 2010, from 9:00 am till 11:00 am and the service will start at 11:00 am.
