Charles Forrest Holcomb Jr.

Charles Forrest Holcomb, Jr. passed away from complications of brain cancer on January 23rd, 2024, at his home in Lake Mary, Florida at the age of sixty-five. Charles was born on September 7th, 1958, in Laon, France to Charles Forrest Holcomb, Sr. and Ruth Delores Boyd. He is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Danielle, son Nicholas, and sister Delores Hall. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Delores Holcomb of Titusville, Florida. Charles graduated from Titusville High School in 1976. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1977-1979 as an aircraft mechanic. Charles attended UCF in 1979 where he was a member of the university’s first football team. He earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and finance from Florida Southern College in 1992. He had a 40-year career in the energy industry and was employed by TECO Corp., FPL, and Duke Energy. For the past two years he worked for Infratech Corp. as a Regional Sales Manager. Charles served on the of the Board of the Central Florida Hotel Lodging Association Engineers Council for many years. He was also a board member for the Seminole County Cultural Arts Association and past president of the Florida Young Artists Organization (FYAO). Charles married Mary Cecchini, a clinical psychologist in 1987. They spent their lives in the Orlando area raising their two children Danielle and Nicholas. Charles coached Danielle in soccer and softball and was her biggest fan when she played collegiate Lacrosse. He also supported Nicholas’s passion for music by attending numerous lessons, concerts, and through his role with the FYAO. He always prioritized supporting his wife and children over all of his varied interests. Charles enjoyed watching and participating in competitive sports. He was an avid golfer, a sport he played for his entire adult life. He enjoyed his monthly poker games and the laughter and camaraderie that came along with that. Charles was an excellent mechanic and a guy who could fix anything. Often called “MacGyver” by family and friends, he was famous for “fashioning a tool” out of just about anything. He genuinely enjoyed building things, including remodeling older homes. He answered the call not only for his wife and kids, but also for his extended family…no job too big or small. He also liked creating wooden toys for his kids when they were young, and built his son a beautiful bass guitar. More than anything, Charles was a great friend. He was generous, loyal, and would not hesitate to help someone in need. He had a wellspring of jokes and stories and shared them with anyone who was in his company. Charles never met a stranger. He was a positive influence on so many people and an excellent role model for his children who he taught the equal value of hard work and play. A memorial is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Friday February 2nd with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Charles’s life.
