Archbishop David Scott

Archbishop David Scott passed away peacefully on January 15, 2024, in Altamonte Springs, Florida at the age of 71. David is survived by his wife (Becky), his two sons and their wives (Erick and Juleen & Jason and Elizabeth), his sister (Pamela), his two nephews (Bryan and Devin), and his two nieces (Teka and Charlotte) David was born in Dallas, Texas on May 8, 1952, he is the son of Jack M. Scott and Patricia A. Scott. He graduated from Logos Graduate School in 2006 with a Doctor of Divinity. He married Rebecca C. Scott (Becky) on July 26, 1975. David took pride and loved being born and raised in Texas. It’s where he and his sister Pam made lasting childhood memories and where he met his lifelong good friend, David Rutherford. The two of them have been friends since grade school and not one Dallas Cowboy game went by without the two of them getting together to either watch it and/or discuss the good the bad and the ugly, no matter the distance between them. David was an entrepreneur at heart, and it was that core characteristic that drove him to leave everything and move from Dallas to Orlando, Florida in 1972. Soon after arriving in Orlando, and struggling to make ends meet, is when David would have a personal encounter with God and in 1972, David received Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of his life and he began to stand on the promises of God. In the same year, David would then meet Becky, and in just a few years later, she would become his wife and the love of his life. After their marriage, David and Becky served God together as youth pastors in both Clearwater and Titusville until the Lord called them back to Orlando where in 1980, they gave birth to their first child, Erick. Only then just years later, they welcomed their second son, Jason, in 1982. David loved his two sons very dearly and dedicated his life to raising them in a loving home. A home that would serve as a sanctuary for his family and others that needed the love of God. David enjoyed life, especially being able to spend time with his three beautiful grandchildren (Jaden, Andrew, and Allison). He was so proud of his two eldest, Jaden and Andrew, and their early achievements in grade school. He loved celebrating Jaden’s scholastic rewards and Andrew’s talent in being an artist with his drawings and sketches. His youngest grandchild, Allison, was his only little girl in the family. He loved hearing her call him Papa and always being on the receiving end of her little kisses to make all his “boo-boo’s” go away. David was an extremely compassionate and kind person who was loved dearly by so many friends and family. He dedicated his life to serve others through Christ. He was known as a Friend, Brother, Husband, Uncle, Father, Pastor, Chaplin, Deacon, Priest, and Bishop to many. But more than all the titles, accolades, and honors David received and earned throughout his life, he was simply known as a man of God. A “simple man” who served first before being served. Who would give all he had and ask for nothing in return. A man who loved others undeservingly because God first loved us. Viewing Services will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, at DeGusipe Funeral Home, 9001 N. Orlando Avenue Maitland, Florida 32751 from 6pm-7pm, followed by a special Mass Service honoring David from 7pm-8pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at San Pedro Center Chapel, 95 Bishop Grady Ln. Winter Park, Florida 32792, followed by burial service at Queen of Angels Cemetery, 1902 Queen of Angels Drive, Winter Park, Florida 32792. Reception to follow.
