Amelia Wells

Amelia “Millie” Wells, 87, of Clearwater, FL was called to her heavenly home on February 20th, 2020. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Millie was born to Angelo and Angelina Pimpinelli in Stratford, Connecticut on February 22nd, 1932. She was the youngest of nine children, adored by her parents and older brother and sisters. They always remained a tight-knit family and had many reunions throughout the years, filled with lots of laughter, singing and love. Millie met her husband, Navy Airman Edward Wells, while roller-skating with a group of mutual friends. They married on September 16th, 1950. They went on to have three children, Gary, Robert and Karen and in 1965 moved to the beautiful suburbs of Huntington, CT. During this time, Millie was a hard worker and a real-life ‘Rosie the Riveter’, working for Rybestas and later for Remington Arms. In 1971, the family moved to St. Petersburg, FL, following several of her sisters and brothers. Millie and her family loved the Florida lifestyle with many trips to the beaches, especially Fort Desoto, where they often enjoyed family picnics. Millie adored children and became a nanny to several families in the St. Petersburg area, as well as an eldercare companion. In her downtime, she enjoyed needlepoint and crocheting and always kept up with her Buccaneers and Rays. She was proud of her Italian ancestry as both of her parents emigrated from Italy. When first moved to Ambler, PA then settled in Stratford, CT. Millie was a wonderful Italian cook and made the best sauce and lasagna. Family gatherings were usually centered around the dining room table with delicious food and, most importantly, a lot of love and affection. Millie is survived by her daughter Karen Honaker (Lee), grandchildren Carolyn Leckie (Daniel), Jacob Honaker, son Robert, grandchildren Danielle Wells, Tracy Wells and Lauren Wells. Great-grandchildren Rowan and Knox Leckie. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by loving husband Guy Edward Wells and son Gary Wells. She is also predeceased by her sisters Edith Pusta, Evelyn Reiseg, Rose Roberts and Mary Galello, and brothers Alfred, James, Salvador and Joseph. Millie loved her family unconditionally and always reminded them how much she cherished them. She never met a stranger and touched many lives with her cheerful demeanor and compassionate heart. May we think of Millie the next time we have an opportunity to pass on a gesture of kindness to another, no matter how small. We know that Millie is no longer in discomfort but in the loving arms of Jesus, reuniting with her husband, son, parents and siblings. Family is forever and spending eternity with them is a precious gift to us through our Lord Jesus Christ. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, February 28, 2020 beginning at 9:30 am until time of service at 10 am. Interment will follow in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
