Alison Clary

Alison Clary passed away on August 25th, 2023. Alison, who also went by "Mema" and "Mom", is survived by her daughter Jennifer Clary (husband Daniel Grundorf) of Longwood, Fl, Granddaughter Isabella Bates and Grandson Alekzander Bates of Longwood, Fl, daughter Dana Clary of New Smyrna Beach, Fl, stepson Bill Clary (wife Paula Clary) of Santa Cruz, Ca., stepson Steve Clary (wife Laurie Clary) of Galt, Ca and stepson Ron Clary of Lodi, Ca. She was a widow for 21 days as her loving husband of over 5 decades, William D. Clary, passed 3 weeks before. She went to heaven to follow him. Alison and Bill had met in 1967 and never spent a moment apart after. Alison was born in San Francisco, California. She was born into a family that dated several generations back as San Franciscans. She went to high school and college in San Francisco and did her summer semesters in Hawaii. She was a city girl at heart and even though she lived in Florida for over 50 years, there was never a day that she didn't exude her classy Northern California vibe. Alison was exposed to just about everything that you could think of. She skied, she camped in Muir Woods, she swam, she was a diver, she danced and she beamed with light wherever she went. Alison was humble with her talents but was a true artist. She painted, created stained glass pieces, sewed and made beautiful jewelry. She loved being creative and losing time in her projects. Alison spent her early career as a teacher in San Francisco and continued teaching for several years, after she moved to Florida with her dear husband. She was a sharp business woman, meticulous with numbers. She and her husband had ventured out on their own and ran their own investment business for several decades. She was strong willed and assisted in running her business, quite literally, until the day that she passed. It goes without saying that Alison was a beauty in the truest sense. Her beauty resonated from the inside out. She was a tremendous soul who was generous, patient and an excellent listener. That is what made her beautiful. Her outer beauty was just a small bonus. She was often joked with, that she didn't leave the house without looking like she was ready for a photoshoot. Her hair, make-up, nails, jewelry and accessories were always on point. Alison was fortunate to find her true soulmate when she met her husband. They loved being together and knew one and other better than they knew themselves. They traveled the world together and brought back gifts to share. They enjoyed musicals, NYC during the holidays and they were always up for a dinner date night. Many people would ask how they stayed married for so long and they both have said multiple times, patience and communication. Alison and Bill were the ultimate example of what true love looks like. As a mother, Mom provided great advice. She was selflessly supportive and honest. She had an endless amount of love to share for those who wanted it. And she acted like a mother to those who were not her own children, in the kindest of ways. She gave tremendous hugs and if you didn't give her one quick enough, she would stand there until you gave her one. A kiss on the cheek meant that you had a lipstick smudge on your face, for the rest of the day. Mom sacrificed a lot, to make sure that her family came first. She was an incredible mother and her love is irreplaceable. The true pride and joy of Alison's life was her relationship with her grandchildren, Izzy and Zander. She and her husband were there when they were born and never missed a beat for what followed. Alison lived for stories that the kids provided. She knew who all of their friends were, came to parties that were hosted even as they were teenagers ( and beyond) and supported both of them in their education. She adored talking to younger people but nothing was better than talking to her two best friends, Izzy and Zander. She had an incredibly open mind and was able to speak to both of them, without judgement, about any and all things. They were together often throughout the week. When Mema, Poppa, Izzy and Zander were together, you would always hear them laughing about something off color. The laughter resonated throughout the house and was often accompanied by tears rolling down everyone's cheeks because it was just that funny. The love that was shared between Mema, Poppa, Izzy and Zander was an anomaly that was and never will be taken for granted. Alison's passing so shortly after William's has left her family with grief that is unimaginable. She, along with Bill, are missed terribly and will be honored daily, until the end of time. The family is hosting a dual Celebration of Life for both Alison & William.
