Our beloved 6 year old, Emma Marie Marques entered heaven on February 3rd 2015. Emma was born on June 4th, 2009. She endured a brave and courageous 22 month long battle with DIPG, an inoperable form of pediatric brain cancer.
Emma leaves behind her parents Donna Marie Marques and George Manuel Marques and her 8 year old brother Anthony Patrick Marques, including a large loving family extending throughout Canada, Ireland and Portugal. She was a student of Annunciation Catholic Academy. In her short 6 years of life, Emma lived and loved life to the fullest, touching so many lives. She loved to dance, do arts and crafts, American girl, Minnie, pretend she was a princess, beach trips, travel, doing it all while always have a smile on her face.
She loved to express herself through her art. Emma left behind a legacy with her book, entitled 'Emma the Brave', written and illustrated by her. We will find peace in her words "Whenever you are hurting and feel like you're falling apart, think of Emma the Brave - She's there in your heart". Forever she will live through us, in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, Emma would have loved donations to be made in her honor to much needed DIPG research to continue to fight the stinky tumor:
